Adla-Badli ("we", "us", "the platform") is an independent, unofficial website that helps Punjab Government school teachers find a mutual ("adla-badli") transfer partner. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Punjab or the Department of School Education, Punjab. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and when we share it with other users of the platform.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us when you register:

• Name and mobile number (mobile is verified by a one-time SMS code)
• Email address, if you choose to provide one
• Employee ID and designation (e.g. ETT Teacher, JBT Teacher, Master)
• Your current posting — district, block, school, and management/category
• A password, which we store in hashed (encrypted) form — we never store or see your actual password

Information you give us when you post a transfer request:

• The district(s), block(s), and category you're willing to move to
• Any optional remarks you add (e.g. a reason for wanting to move)

Information collected automatically:

• Login session data, stored via a session cookie, so you stay signed in
• Basic technical data such as IP address and browser/device information, for security and to keep the platform running reliably

2. How we use your information

• To verify your mobile number and identity via a one-time password (OTP)
• To let you browse other teachers' open transfer requests, and let other teachers browse yours
• To automatically find and notify you of a mutual match — another teacher who is posted where you want to go, and wants to move to where you are posted
• To operate, secure, and improve the platform, and to prevent spam or abuse (for example, by limiting how many OTPs can be requested for one number)

3. What other users can see

Adla-Badli only works because teachers can find and contact each other, so some of your information is visible to other signed-in, registered teachers — never to the public or to search engines:

• Your name, designation, category, current school/district/block, and your stated transfer preferences appear on Browse Listings to other logged-in teachers while your transfer request is open.
• If you and another teacher are found to be a mutual match, you can each see the other's name, posting details, and mobile number on the My Matches page, so you can contact each other directly to arrange the transfer.

You can stop your listing from being shown to others at any time by withdrawing your transfer request from your dashboard.

4. Third-party services we use

• SMS delivery (Twilio): we use a third-party SMS provider to send the one-time verification codes used at registration and password reset. Your mobile number and the OTP message are shared with this provider solely to deliver that message.
• Public school directory: district, block, and school names shown on the platform are drawn from the publicly available ePunjabSchool directory for reference only, and are not personal data about you.
• Advertising: the platform may display ads served by Google AdSense to keep the service free. If shown, Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can review Google's own practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

5. Cookies

We use a single, essential session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms from cross-site request forgery. We do not use this cookie to track you across other websites. If advertising is enabled (see above), Google's own cookies may also be set.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and transfer request information for as long as your account remains active, so the matching feature keeps working for you. If you'd like your account and personal data deleted, email us (details below) and we will remove it, except where we're required to keep limited records for security or legal reasons.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypting stored passwords and expiring OTP codes after a short window. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and avoid sharing your OTP with anyone.

8. Your choices

• You can review and update your profile information at any time from "My Profile".
• You can withdraw an open transfer request to stop it being shown to other teachers.
• You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.

9. Children's privacy

This platform is intended for use by adult, employed Punjab Government school teachers only, and is not directed at or intended for use by children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the platform changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
